Thelma Dodd

Thelma Leah Dodd, age 86 of Tahlequah, Oklahoma passed away Monday, July 10, 2023 at her home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 14, 2023 at the Hart Funeral Home with Steve Parker officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of the Hart Funeral Home.

Visitation hours will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 13, 2023 at the Hart Funeral Home.

Thelma Leah Dodd was born November 27, 1936 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Lewis and Bonnie (West) Covington. She grew up in Sallisaw, Oklahoma and graduated from the Sallisaw High School in 1955. She then attended Northeastern for two years.

On April 12, 1958 Thelma married James Dodd in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Thelma returned to Northeastern and earned her degree in Teaching. She then taught school at Dahlonegah Elementary in Stilwell, Oklahoma for 27 years. Thelma was a member of the South College Church of Christ. She loved gardening, raising her cats, dogs and chickens and was known for her biscuits and chocolate gravy.

Survivors include there children Mitchell Dodd and wife Rose Ann of Tahlequah, Cynthia "Cindy" Perdue of Lawton, and Johnny "Tad" Dodd of Tahlequah; siblings Betty Holt of Sallisaw, William & Jan Covington of California, Lonnie & Judy Covington of Texas, Artho & Brenda Covington of Sallisaw, Maggie & Richard Ramm of Sallisaw, Loretta & Olen Carson of Sallisaw and David & Sharon Covington of Altus; Grandchildren James West, Lyndsey Perdue, Crystal & Casey Dodd, Mitchell James Dodd, April Nicole Dodd and Wyatt Allen Dodd; 10 Great grandchildren and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, one granddaughter Jennifer West and one brother R.C. Covington.
