Tony Starr

Tony Duane Starr, 74, of Cookson, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023, at his home.

Tony was born October 24, 1948, in Mooreland, Oklahoma, to the late Forrest E. "Frosty" and Juanita Pearl Oliver Starr. He was reared and received his education in Mooreland, where he graduated from Mooreland High School. He attended college for three years at Oklahoma State University in Okmulgee. Tony joined the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam. After 4 years in the Air Force, he received the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged.

Tony married Debra Ann Tindall, September 20, 1980, in Oklahoma City. They moved to Cookson in 1996 from Oklahoma City.

Tony was an oil technician in the oil fields most of his life and was also crane operator for many years as well.

Tony was a people-person who never met a stranger and was a great storyteller! He was very good at playing the organ and was master mechanic! He enjoyed spending time with his family and going to Lake Tenkiller on the weekends where he was always the "Life of the Party!" Tony was a patient, kind, wise, and loving husband, daddy, and papa, who was loved very much and will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

Tony is survived by his wife of 43 years, Debra Tindall Starr of Cookson; one son, Tony Ryan Starr of Cookson; two daughters, Brandi Starr of Yukon, Oklahoma and Deadra D. Starr of Cookson; a brother, Jerry Starr of Mooreland, Oklahoma; a sister, Melinda Ellis Woodward, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Haleigh (Lesley), Blaine, Logan, Tanner, Zaine, Kenzlee, Kian, and Kambree; three nieces, Tammy, Tiffany and Jaime; and two nephews, Andy and Garrett.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Tommy Gene Starr.

Visitation will be Monday, October 23, 2023, 5:00-7:00 PM, at Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, October 24, 2023, 2:00 PM, at Cookson Cemetery in Cookson, OK with military honors. Services are provided by Hart Funeral Home of Tahlequah.
