Uiva Tubbs

April 3, 1933 — October 1, 2017

Uiva Comingdeer Tubbs the daughter of John Ronald and Jessie (Anthney) Comingdeer was born April 3, 1933 in Moodys, Oklahoma and departed this life on October 1, 2017 in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 28 days.

Uiva loved her family and was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed being with her family and spending time with them. She loved her country and she taught her children and grandchildren to respect the American Flag and the military. These things meant a lot to her and she proudly displayed her flag in front of her house. She was very proud of her American heritage but she was also proud of her Cherokee Heritage and she tried to teach her children and grandchildren about their heritage and instill in them the same love and passion that she had. Uiva enjoyed sewing, gardening and going fishing any chance she could. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Arts, and worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. She has touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Jessie Comingdeer; her husband Johnny Vann; her son Tommy Comingdeer; her brother Junior Comingdeer; her sisters Uila Weastie Upton and Marietta Covey; and her grandson Justin Comingdeer.

She is survived by a loving family which includes her children Floyd Comingdeer and wife Carolyn of Edmond, OK, Gary Comingdeer of Titusville, FL, Tony Comingdeer and wife Monica of Tahlequah, Eric Tubbs and wife Cindy of Disney, OK, Tanya Comingdeer of Muskogee, Sonja Hall of Muskogee, Pamela Fisher of Tulsa and Monica Rotton and husband Brent of Tahlequah; her sister Patricia Stielow and husband Kenneth of Paradise, KS; her brother Ronnie Comingdeer and wife Linda of Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
