Velma Wright

May 5, 1918 — July 8, 2014

Velma Lucile Wright, the daughter of Howard Fitzgerald and Verda Fern Smith Smothers, was born May 5, 1918 in McPherson, Kansas. She married Robert Wayne Wright of Fowler, KS on April 30, 1941. Velma departed this life and quietly entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 8, 2014 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 96 years, 2 months and 3 days.

Velma was a terrific musician and was the organist for the Free Methodist Church of Midwest City, OK for many years. She enjoyed serving as the pianist for Go Ye Village Chapel after her retirement. Velma loved foreign travel, china painting, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Velma touched many lives with her ready smile and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents her husband Robert Wright and her brother Warren Smothers.

She is survived by a loving family which includes her sons Larry Wright and wife Suzane of Edmonds, WA and David Wright and wife Cheri of Prairie Village, KS 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
