Wanda Collins

July 23, 1929 — December 2, 2016

Wanda Lou Collins the daughter of E.W. Kindle and Floy (McCollum) Kindle was born July 23, 1929 in Proctor, Oklahoma and departed this life on December 2, 2016 in Proctor, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 9 days.

June was raised in the Proctor community and went to school there where she was the Valedictorian of her 8th grade class. She was one of nine children, and they were a loving family. As they played as children her brother Herb nicknamed her Junee Bug because they played with the June Bugs all the time. It was later shortened to June and has stuck with her. She went on to Westville High School and graduated in 1947. She met the love of her life Archie Collins on July 4, 1944 and they were married in 1947. Shortly after their marriage they moved to California and started their adventure of life. They went to a tent revival in Glendale, California where they were both saved and later baptized together. They moved back to Oklahoma in 1949 and they attended a church in West Tulsa. The church wanted to branch out into smaller communities and they moved to Berryhill, Oklahoma and started their mission of building the church. They named the church View Acres and they were 2 of the 60 Charter Members. June was the first secretary. She taught Sunday School and VBS for many years. June also served as a substitute teacher, Homeroom Mother for Berryhill Elementary, and Boy Scout Leader. She was a very faithful mother and was always ready to lend a hand in any activity that her children were involved in. They then moved back home to the Proctor Community. She became a grandmother and her heart grew even bigger. She was amazing and patient. In the summertime grandma and grandpa would invite all the grandchildren to come stay for a couple of weeks. Then as she became a great grandmother and great-great grandmother her heart grew even bigger. She has left a legacy instilled in her family. She was a loving wife of over 69 years and taught her family that you don't give up on a marriage you just love stronger. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spoiled every one of them from her husband to her children and grandchildren, to her great grandchildren and her great-great grandchild. She thoroughly enjoyed making the trip to Canton, TX for 27 years crafting, sewing, painting and antiqueing. She loved spending time with family and adored her grandchildren. June touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Noel Kindle, George Kindle and Herb Kindle; and sisters Elva Yeager, Mildred Hubbard, Edna Smith, and Autherine Richards.

She is survived by a loving family which includes her husband Archie Collins of the home, her two sons Lyle Dein Collins and wife Lyndia of Proctor, OK; Halbert Lee Collins and wife Dianne of Tulsa, OK; and one Daughter June Elise Collins-Tweedy of Tahlequah, OK; sister Jean Edwards and husband Cliff of Prairie Grove, AR; 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
