Wanda Lea Hastings Hix went to be with the Lord on February 19, 2015. She was born on December 30, 1937 at her home in the Chance Community in Adair County to Jess and Ruettie Hastings. She resided there with her family until she met the love of her life.
On May 14, 1955 she married Francis Bartow Hix at the home of Bro. Blair on Hwy 10. Soon after they wed 4 children followed Mike, Gail, Karen and Chuck. They moved to their home in Tulley Hollow and lived there for 10 years. Before Charles was born they moved to the Oil Springs Community on the Illinois River where Bartow worked as a ranch foreman for Bohner/Tate Wild Goose Ranch and worked until his retirement. The fall of 1978 the family moved to the Combs Community (down the river) and here they both lived until their passing.
Wanda was a loving wife, dedicated mother and grandmother. She was very active in their church and community. Wanda and Bart took many trips with their cattlemen and cattle women association family. It was never a dull moment with Gene and Bart and many stories were told. Wanda sold Avon for 35 years and was known to everyone around town as the "Avon Lady".
This union was blessed for 52 years where upon they had four children, seven grand children and five great granddaughters. Wanda is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one grandson and her brother Raymond Hastings.
Wanda is survived by her children Michael Hix and wife Cheryl, Gail Gates and husband Joe, Karen Bigby and husband Mark and Charles Hix. Her brother Jerry Hastings and wife LaVonne. Her seven grandchildren, Jesse Hix, Joey Hix, Jordan Hix and wife Jothan, Jennifer Wright and husband Jasen, Bryan Harris and wife Amanda, Kyle Bigby and Tiffany Walker and husband Jacky. Her five great granddaughters Lexye Gail Wright, Kinyle Sue Wright, Brynlee Louise Harris, Emma Rose Hix and Xoey Gabriella Hix. Her niece Stacy Hammons and husband Tim, two great nephews Jake and Josh. She leaves a host of family, friends and loved ones.
