Wanda Howard

Wanda Marie Gassaway Gulager Howard the daughter of Vance Gassaway and Grace Bell Kerns was born December 13, 1931 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and departed this life on December 29, 2017 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years.

Wanda enjoyed life and loved her family. She attended Crescent Valley Baptist Church and she was a long time member of the Democrat Women of Cherokee County. She loved being in the kitchen and spending time with all of her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and loved her cattle. Wanda married Christian Gulager, at a young age and raised 5 children, she was known as "the Ranchers and Cattlemen wife." She was a full time mother to 5 children, cattle rancher and horseman for 21 years, until the passing of her late husband. She was widowed for 6 years and then married Fred Howard and worked side by side on their cattle ranch for 31 years. At the same time, she worked at Hulbert Public School System then went on to work for the Cherokee County Courthouse as a deputy clerk. Wanda touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was known for her servant's heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband's Christian Gulager and Fred Howard; her sister Tina Mae Glory.

She is survived by a loving family which includes her children Mary Braden and husband Mike of Stilwell, OK, GV Gulager and wife Patti of Tahlequah, OK, Anne Rogers and husband Dwayne of Tahlequah, OK, Cindy Dieman and husband Mark of Ft. Gibson, OK, and Chris Martin Gulager and wife Kathy of Hulbert, OK; her sisters Anna Lee Millison of Tahlequah,OK, Vancie "Punkin" Keith and husband Don of Lakeside, California, and Betty Sue George of Tahlequah, OK; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive her.
