Wanda Varner

Wanda Jeanne Varner, age 91, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 at Tahlequah, OK. She was a fiercely independent woman who lived life on her terms.

In her young life she was a mother and housewife and worked at various jobs to support her family. As an adult, she finished a bachelor's and master's degree and taught many years in Missouri and a remote village in Alaska. She retired back in Tahlequah and loved working in the yard with her flowers and won recognition for yard of the month several times. The day after Thanksgiving, she enjoyed turning on her Christmas lights and always had the prettiest Christmas display in the neighborhood. Another of her passions was feeding and caring for stray cats that others had abandoned.

She is survived by two daughters and a son, four grandchildren, 6 great grand children and 5 great great grand children. A gathering of family and friends is planned for Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm to celebrate her life.
