Wilburton Hodnett

Wayne Hodnett, the son of John Franklin and Bertha Mae (Williams) Hodnett was born October 2, 1934, in One Creek Valley, Oklahoma and departed this life on April 6, 2019, in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 4 days.



Wayne enjoyed life and had many hobbies. He loved to read especially western novels. He passed his love of reading and his passion for education on to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling, watching basketball, and was an avid outdoorsman. Whether he was in the woods hunting, taking the grandkids fishing, or spending time tending his garden and flower beds, he always found time to enjoy nature. He had a huge heart for animals of any kind and would take in any weak, injured, orphaned or hungry animal he found and care for it. Wayne, a retired Medical Technologist, spent his retirement years caring for his grandchildren and mentoring youth through 4-H and FFA. Wayne touched many lives over the years, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.



He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Velda Hodnett; his sisters Lura Mathews, Jean Flath, and Ann Savage; his brother Johnnie Hodnett; and his twin brother Willie Weldon Hodnett.



He is survived by a loving family which includes his daughters Jean Parker of Tahlequah, Jana Moss-Muesegaes and husband Bob of Wagoner and Jill Crawford and husband Steve of Tahlequah; grandchildren Becky Shepherd and husband Shaun of Tahlequah, Marshall Moss and wife Sara of Broken Arrow, Dr. Heather Crawford of Stillwater, Michelle Dubbs and husband Chris of Vancouver, WA, Erika Crawford-Samuels and husband Charlie of Tahlequah, Tara Parker of Tahlequah; and great grandchildren Maiya, Kilie, Elise, Tate, Jax and Trace. A host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives will also greatly miss him.
