Zella Skaggs

Zella Mae Skaggs, 89, passed away on Tuesday, March 25,2025. She was born on March 24, 1936, to Walter Peace and Edna (Vanderpool) Peace. She was raised in Pumpkin Hollow where she attended Pumpkin Center School along with her seven siblings. In her teens, her family moved to the Dry Creek area where they had a farm and milked cows.

In 1953, she met and married the love of her life, Earl (Bob) Skaggs. They had two daughters, Melba and Pamela and lived in the Proctor Community. Zella was a homemaker and loved making a garden, cutting wood, and working on the farm. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

Zella was a member of the Proctor Baptist Church and later years attended Proctor Community Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Doyle, Everett, Jimmy, and an infant brother, sister, Loretta Maggard, daughter, Melba Beasley, grandson, Kevin Cain, great-granddaughter, Kendra Beasley, and great-grandson, Bo Cain.

She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Bob Skaggs, daughter, Pamela (William ) Hooper, grandsons, Jason (Melissa) Beasley, Josh (Laura) Beasley, Steven (Becky) Cain, Crystal (Matt) Wilson, Kyle (Emily) Hooper great-grandchildren, Tristan, Kimber, Keysha, Hunter, Colton, Gunner, Kaden, Ryker, Josh , Jonathan , Katelyn , Kylea, and Addison great-great-grandchildren, Kevin, Octavia, Hadley, special friend, Jerry Cain along with a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Service will be 11 AM, Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Hart Funeral Home, burial to follow at Proctor Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 4 PM until 6 PM at Hart Funeral Home.
