David Cole

October 1, 1942 — August 18, 2020

Tahlequah

David A. "Cobb" Cole was born October 1, 1942, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and departed this life on August 18, 2020, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 17 days.

David was tagged with the name Cobb at a very young age by his uncle and it has stayed with him throughout his life. He was a hard worker and enjoyed working around the place and messing around on his Dozer and Backhoe. He was very meticulous and loved to take a piece of ground and turn it into something of beauty. Every contractor around would wait for Cobb because they knew once he was finished, it was perfect. He was very resourceful and could do just about anything. He enjoyed working on old tractors and cars and keep them running, even if he had to take an old aluminum can and make the part he needed. Cobb loved his family, and he enjoyed the family dinners, because it gave him a chance to pick on the grandkids. He didn't like to go anywhere and was most content at home. He enjoyed quail hunting, watching football and reading about history focusing especially on WWII. Cobb was one of a kind, and he touched many lives over the years. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father George Cole, who was killed in WWII, his mother Pauline Cole, his stepfather Bub Frank, who was killed in Korea, his stepfather Alton Cole, his son Johnny Cole and his brother Eddie Cole, who was killed during Vietnam.

He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife of over 56 years, Mary Cole of the home; his children Roger Cole and wife Jamie of Tahlequah, Rebecca Robbins and husband RJ of Bunch, and Regina Nottingham and husband Louis of Park Hill; his sisters Carolyn Hamilton of Muskogee and Cheryl Parrish and husband Bob of Tahlequah; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive him.
