On Wednesday, January 8, 2021, Deborah Kennedy gained her wings at age 63. Deborah was born in Williamsburg, KY to Albert Baker and Lola Marie Carpenter. She was the firstborn of 9. She spent many years working in the restaurant business and taking care of family in Kentucky and Oklahoma. In 1992, she married Jon Kennedy and moved to Warner. She attended Connors State College and received an accounting degree in May 1996. She owned an accounting business for 22 years.
Deborah had a special place in her heart for her loved ones. She loved going into thrift stores and spending time with her family. She treasured and embraced every moment. She especially loved her role as Nana or Nanny. She had a vivacious personality and always made people laugh. She never met a stranger no matter where she went. She was known for her forgetfulness or “dory-itis” as her children call it, her humor, her contagious smile, and loving heart.
Deborah was preceded in death by her father, Albert Baker, her stepfather, Earl Wayne Murphy, and her husband, Jon. She leaves behind her mother, three children Katie Wacoche and companion Joseph Morton of Muskogee, Angela Wacoche and companion Darrell Holcomb of Vian, Shannon Shade and companion Wesley Shade of Tahlequah; 9 grandchildren, Courtney, Aaron, Khyree, Nicole, Jaden, Ben, Nakiya, Braven, and Wesley; 4 great grandchildren, Phoenix, William, Zariah, and Rowan. She is also survived by her siblings: Judy Carpenter, Peggy Murphy, Vickie Price, Tina Price, Michael Baker, Jimmy Baker, Kristy Baker, and Karen Baker; many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 am Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Hart Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Nathan Moore officiating. A committal service will be conducted at 12 pm at the National Cemetery pavilion in Fort Gibson, OK.
