Dr. Danny Minor

August 25, 1943 — July 13, 2019

Dr. Danny Lee Minor the son of Herbert Olen and Imol Irene (Bowen) Minor was born August 25, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas and departed this life on July 13, 2019 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 18 days.

Dr. Minor enjoyed life and it was said of Danny that he enjoyed everything, this was very true because his interests were innumerable. He enjoyed genealogy, woodworking, construction, mission work, metalwork, working on old cars, restoring stained glass, and architectural design. At the age of 16, he rebuilt a 1930 Model A ford he nicknamed Valerie Ann. As an adult, he enjoyed continually remodeling his home with his children. He believed in using the talents that God gave him in service for the Lord. He went on many medical mission trips with his family to places such as Guatemala, Ukraine, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe. He sat on the board of Health Talents International which sends doctors and other medical personnel to various countries around the globe. He was very involved with the Lord's church and served as an elder of the South College Church of Christ for over 35 years. He graduated from Oklahoma Christian College in the Spring of 1963. Danny was the first graduate of the College's four-year degree program to be accepted to a professional school. He continued his education attending OU Medical School and graduated in the Spring of 1971. Later Danny served on the OU Medical School Admissions Board. He was very involved with the Boy Scouts of America when his children were young and received the highest honor a scout can receive the Silver Beaver Award. Not only did he use his talents as a Medical Doctor, but he also helped with his construction talents working at Burnt Cabin Christian Camp at Lake Tenkiller. Danny served the city of Tahlequah and surrounding area with distinction for over 35 years as a physician and surgeon. He was also proud of his time in the Navy. He was commissioned as a Lt. Commander and proudly served at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, TX as a general surgeon. Danny touched many lives. He truly loved all of his patients over the years; he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Imol Minor.

He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife Leslie Minor of the home; his children Shawn Minor and wife Summer of Broken Arrow, Christopher Minor and wife Jennifer of Edmond and Kara Minor of Tahlequah, also Mike Harlow (who is like a son) and his wife Sabrina of Sapulpa, OK; his sister Nancy Mason and husband Danny of Tahlequah; and his grandchildren Keaton Minor, Tristan Minor, Kenzie Minor Stephens, Tyson Minor, Kamden Minor, Kallahan Minor, Teagan Minor, Kobey Minor, Krew Minor, Noah Harlow, and Audrey Harlow .
