Geneva Bishop

August 30, 1942 — April 7, 2022

Geneva Joyce Bishop went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 7th 2022 at her home in Cookson, Oklahoma.
Geneva was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on August, 30th 1942. She is the daughter of Paul Hoskins and Dorothy Lee Waddington Hoskins, and sister to three brothers; Ernie, JR and EJ Hoskins.
She moved to the Lake Tenkiller area from Ardmore, Oklahoma in the early 1970's when she married Robert "Bob" Allen Bishop.
Having her Insurance Agent license after gaining her Bachelor's Degree, Geneva worked at insurance agencies in Vian and Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Many will remember Geneva as the smiling redhead that greeted them for over 30 years at State Farm offices in Tahlequah. Over the years, many customers had kind words to say about Geneva when meeting her family members.
Outside of work, Geneva enjoyed, gardening, spending time in the library, listening to books on tape, traveling with her life-long friend Emma Clinton and most of all, spending time with family and friends. She was always happy to be planning another trip with Bob or Emma or sitting in the flower bed in the sun with her hands in the dirt planting, weeding and removing "every single rock" from the soil. She had a smile and a laugh that was as bright as her red hair. A conversation with Geneva was always full of laughter whether on the phone or in person.
Geneva is survived by her brother Ernie Hoskins and his wife Jackie of Madill, Oklahoma, her loving children Joy Lynn Brown Barriere and husband Dirk of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Jerry Wayne Brown and wife JoAnne Redmond Brown of Park Hill, Oklahoma. She was very proud to have 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren living in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Florida.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; EJ and JR, her husband Bob and her best friend Emma.
