Harry Doyle Turley the son of Elbert and Dora Mae (Dick) Turley was born September 28, 1941, in Tulsa, Oklahoma and departed this life on June 28, 2021, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 79 years, and 9 months.
With only a 9th grade education, he had a gift for sales and business. He owned and operated Doyle's Custom Spraying for over 40 years. The self-owned business provided a great life for his family. Monica, Melinda and Doyle picked out their cars at 16; he put all three kids thru college, well one didn't finish. And Marlene was always driving a Cadillac with diamonds on her fingers.
He was known by his westside gang as Dilly Doyle because he was a dilly. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He loved to entertain and was entertaining. Getting together with family and friends is what he lived for.
Doyle and Marlene would have been married for 60 years this August. Music and Dance were a big part of their lives. They both had a gift for dancing and passed it on to their children. When first married, they won their first charcoal grill, a Hasty Back. They had won first place in a dance contest at the Cimmaron Ballroom. They danced on the original Cain's Ballroom floor to Bob Wills and the Playboys and enjoyed many dances together from anniversaries to their children's and grandchildren's weddings. Doyle and Marlene taught Monica to swing dance she and Dad tore it up at the 9th grade prom.
Holidays were his favorite celebration especially this time of year, as the 4th of July was his favorite. Family and friends gathered every year to see the great night fireworks or to see one of the many backfires. This tradition is still carried on today. The show will go on again this year this Saturday at the Westside Country Club at dark.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Melinda Deon Turley; his sisters Donna Turley and Martha Turley; and his brothers David Turley, Lynn Earl Turley, Randy Turley, and Johnny Dale Turley, his twin.
He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife Marlene Turley of the home; his children Monica Barnett and husband Lynn of Tahlequah and Little Doyle Turley of Glenpool; his brother Buryl Turley and wife Mary of Park Hill; and his grandchildren Lyn David Barnett and wife Sara of Dallas, Ashley Cutright and husband Zac of Glenpool, Blake Coburn of Park Hill and Brooke Turley of Glenpool.
