Janet Smith

October 9, 1950 — September 8, 2022

Janet Rose Smith of Tahlequah, OK passed away on September 8, 2022, at the age of 71. She was born on October 9, 1950, in Tahlequah the daughter of Walter and Tomona (Carson) Smith.

Janet was a very sweet kind soul with a smile that was infectious. Her heart was loving and forgiving and she poured her heart and soul into her family. She was diagnosed with Polio at the age of 2 years old, and she never complained. She learned to live her life in other ways which only gave her the opportunity to see life completely different than us. Janet graduated from Hulbert High School in 1969. She had an imagination that showed her the world in the most beautiful way possible. Janet had a talent for painting, especially water colors, she loved the color yellow, watching the birds, and all types of flowers. She loved being around animals, especially her dogs, she loved being around her family and teaching them about all things in life and that you cannot let a disability stop you from living life to the fullest and embracing every aspect of it. Janet was one of the strongest women you could've met and she will be missed by everyone she leaves behind.

She was preceded in death, by her parents, Walter and Tomona Smith and her brother, David Wynn Smith.

She is survived by her family, which includes her brother, Kurby Smith and wife Linda, and Lanna (Smith) Brimer; nephews, Shaun Smith, Chance Smith, Matt Smith, and Joey Smith; niece, Sylvia Kasper and husband Seth; great nieces, Evangeline Smith, and Naomi Kasper and great nephew, Jonathan Kasper; as well as numerous friends and family she leaves behind.
