Leona Cochran

August 10, 1959 — March 26, 2022

Leona Mae Cochran left this world to be with her Lord and Savior on March 25, 2022 at the age of 62. Leona was born August 10, 1959 to George and Lizzie (Cochran) Teehee. She had met her Best Friend and True Love Dean Jackson and together they combined their little families and began to parent 5 of their children and many of their grandchildren whom they both loved unconditionally. Leona was a fluent Cherokee speaker and encouraged all her children and grandchildren to learn and keep passing it down cause "our Cherokee language is dying out". She had been a very dedicated health provider for many years and she had worked as a nurse aid. And her love and devotion for the elderly is what pushed her to want to help more and she later became a CMA in order to be able to help even more people. Leona was definitely a people person, and she wasn't ever scared to speak up and stand up for what she loved and believed in. She loved her mother and her siblings to no end that's for sure, and when any of them needed her she was always there for them. Leona's home, no matter where she might have lived, was always opened to anyone that came to her and needed a place to rest, or to just get away and get their life together. When anyone would come to her home, they always left telling her that her home was always so comfortable and welcoming and she always made them feel like her home was what a home should feel like. Leona was Ma, Mom, Momma, Goosey, or Momma Goose, Leah, Lee, Aunt Leah, and Aunty and Nan or Nana. Although she had many names she went by and answered to she was always the same. Leona was the purest best-friend that any child could have as a Mother, she never seen the faults in her children and would not allow anyone else to place judgement on any of her loved ones, right or wrong she was there for anyone cause she knew how bad life can be for us at times and she understood that everyone goes thru different things. She would push her children and grandchildren to never give up and to always pray, even when things are good take time to pray and say "Thank You Lord for allowing me to enjoy the things you lay before me". When she was able, she loved to do beadwork and take old clothes and blankets and make the most beautiful quilts. She also enjoyed spending her days with her Love Dean Jackson and together they would chase around the grandkids and play games with them, watch movies with them and help with homework and studies. Leona was a huge part of her grandkids lives and her teachings and love will forever be embedded in their hearts. She cherished every moment she got to spend with Family. Leona was a True Warrior of God and she believed without a doubt in her heart that God would see her through.

Leona is preceded in death by her parents: George and Lizzie Teehee, her grandparents: Roger and Nancy Cochran, 2 sisters: (infant) Sara Jane Teehee, and Jennie Wolfe, step-brother Nathaniel Teehee, aunts: Joanne Smith, Sally Terrapin Uncles: Charlie Cochran, Andy Cochran, Tom Cochran and J.D.
