Roger Washington

Roger William Washington, Sr. passed away on November 2, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 28, 1950, in Talihina, OK the son of Everett Washington and Charlene Gross.

He was preceded in death, by his parents, Everett Washington and Charlene Gross; brother, Wendell Washington; grandparents, Esias Washington and Hattie Washington.

He is survived by his loving family, which includes his wife, Wilma Washington; son, Roger Washington, Jr. and wife Sandy; daughter, Michelle Stephens and husband Mike; son, Chris Washington and wife Carley; brothers, Travis Washington and wife Cindy, Rick Washington, Eric Washington and wife Doreen; sister, Lisa Washington; brother-in-law, Dan Hutchison and wife Sally Anne; grandchildren, Justin Stephens and wife Mollie, Madison Stephens, and Roger Washington III; nieces and nephews, Kevin Washington, Leigh Ann Cooper and husband Justin, Jerra Washington, Joshua Washington, Brice, Lane and Isiah Washington, Nick and wife Nicole Hutchison, John Adam (J.A.) and wife Lexy Hutchison, and Shyanne Hutchison; many great nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Roger was born in Talihina, Oklahoma but eventually moved where he resided in southwestern Oklahoma in the Harmon county area where he spent his youth. Roger graduated from Gould school, class of 1968. He was also featured in the Harmon County hall of fame for baseball. He continued his education ultimately graduating from Northeastern State University with a masters degree in social sciences. He also obtained his EMT license. Roger was an amazing taxidermist and loved the outdoors, fishing hunting, metal detecting with his brothers and simply enjoying family and conversation with his children, grandchildren and siblings. Roger never met a stranger and was a kind loving person to everyone. He will be missed by everyone he leaves behind.
