Jimmy Gene "Cowboy" Bass entered this life on July 16, 1953, in San Antonio, TX, and entered into rest on September 4, 2022, in Tahlequah, OK.

Memorial services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gore, Oklahoma on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. 1009 N. Way, Gore, OK.

Jim was a 1972 graduate of Stigler High School. He played football as a defensive tackle. Upon graduation, he received an all-expense paid Football scholarship from the University of Tulsa, which he attended for 2 years. He then went on and attended Northeastern State University for 1 year also on a football scholarship as a defensive tackle. In 1980 Jim worked in the oilfield for several years until the oilfield went bust. He went on to earn his airplane mechanic license and airplane mechanic inspectors license from Metro Tech in Oklahoma City. He was employed by AAR as an airplane mechanic and also an instructor at Metro Tech in Oklahoma City, teaching airplane mechanics. He also worked for Spirit Aviation and Service Center.

In July of 2006, Jim became disabled with anoxic brain damage due to cardiac arrest. Jim loved hunting and fishing. He lived for the deer hunting season to arrive. He always spent all his free time and vacation fishing in the spring. He loved his family and was a good provider. He will be missed by all he leaves behind.

Jim is survived by his wife, Helen Bass of the home; daughter, Julie McDaniel, and husband Robert; father, Gene Bass; grandchildren, Richard Allen Benoit III ,Thomas O'Neal and wife Brandy and their children, Gabriel, Faith, Thomas, jr., Isiah, and Harmony O'Neal, Tyler O'Neal and wife Karlee and their children, Blake and Brody and Baylen; siblings, Janice and Mike Bracken, Jeff Belote, James and Susan Belote, and Greg Belote; nieces and nephews, Rusty and Cassandra Bracken, Kent and Leah Bracken, Tim Hall, Tripp Hall, Jaedyn and Austin Drewry, Lakin and Lynnsey Bass, Tuesdae and Mike Winsterstein; great nieces and nephews, Marley, Chandler, Laityn, Addy, Klair, Brookie, Parker Joe, Jackson Pete, and Noah Jay Lee.

He was preceded in death, by his mother, Sue Clark; stepfather, Jim Clark; stepmother, Betty Bass; daughter, Heather Renea Bass; brother, Pete Bass; his grandparents, Jim sr. and Ann Hall, Elgie and Ruth Bass; nephew, Shawn Braun.
