Maynard Connor

January 7, 1944 — September 2, 2022

Maynard Wesley Connor Jr., fondly known as "Wes" to most and "Poppy" to his six grandkids, was born January 7, 1944, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and departed this life on September 2, 2022, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 26 days.

Wes spent nearly his entire life in the Tahlequah community. He grew up in Peggs, Ok, graduated from Tahlequah High School, and attended Northeastern State University, where he was a member of the Phi Lambda Chi fraternity. He went on to have a long career in the insurance business.

Wes was a very proud and active member of Cherokee County Masonic Lodge #10, the Bedouin Shrine Temple in Muskogee, and Court 99 of the Royal Order of Jesters. He loved all sports, especially football, wrestling and baseball. He enjoyed spending time at both the lake and the river, playing cards and dominos, and traveling with his family and friends.

Wes's legacy is best identified in the way he raised and loved his kids. His patience, unconditional love and quiet fortitude left a lasting impression. He taught his children the value of honesty, integrity, and loyalty. He was proud of his kids and grandkids, and would talk about them to anyone that would listen. Seeing his grandkids always brought a smile and lit up his eyes. He touched many lives, was the source of many laughs, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Maynard Wesley Connor Sr. and Eva (Carnes) Connor-Wisely; his wife Brooks Connor and his brother Dale Connor.

He is survived by a loving family which includes his children Maryde Bedenbaugh and husband Bill of Norman, OK, Bo Connor and wife Lindsey of Tulsa, OK, and Crosby Caughron and husband Preston of Tahlequah; his sister JoAnna Richmond of Cleveland, OK; and his grandchildren Littie Connor, Kylie Connor, Will Bedenbaugh, Lacy Bedenbaugh, Lane Caughron, and Linley Caughron. Several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives who he loved very much also survive him.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial be made to the Muskogee Bedouin Shrine Temple Transportation Fund at P.O. Box 1667 Muskogee, OK 74401 in memory of Wes Connor.
