Violet Kay Whorton-Thompson, 60, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 15th, 2021, at her place of residence in Rose, OK. She was born on June 4th, 1961, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to her parents, Elmer and Dottie Freeman-Whorton.
Violet had many adventures while she was here, including running her own business for a while. There was never a dull moment with her. Violet was always on the move! She had a talent of moving into a place and would make something out of nothing every time.
She was a hard worker and a very strong woman and had an even bigger heart. Violet was always watching out for her family and friends. She would make sure no one went without. She like to fish, and in her younger years, rode horses with family and friends.
Violet was a fan of Westerns and would even tell the grandkids that John Wayne was their grandpa! She loved spending time with her grandkids and family. Violet gave her life to the Lord and was baptized on April 4th, 2020. She will be greatly missed.
Violet is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Dottie Whorton, and her brother, Mannford Bull Whorton and her sister, Carmen Labby.
Violet is survived by her sons, Tommy and wife Melissa Claxton of Leach, OK, Scottie Claxton of Jay, OK, Anthony Claxton of Grove, OK; sisters, Levina Davis of Tahlequah, OK, Brenda Busby of Teresita, OK, Elaine Whorton of Salina, OK; brothers, Darvin and wife Nancy Whorton of Teresita, OK, Garland Whorton of Oaks, OK; grandchildren, Evalena, Tariah, Eagon, Owen and Cannon Claxton, along with many family, friends and loved ones.
A graveside service will be held at Teresita Cemetery in Teresita, OK on Tuesday September 21, 2021 at 10:00 AM. Family visitation will be held on September 20, 2021 from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah, OK. Tommy Claxton with be officiating the graveside service with Benny Dotson, James Davis, Lee Whorton, Jeff Whorton, and Anthony Whaler serving as Pallbearers.
