Joesph Horney, 62, of Rose, Oklahoma, passed away on April 12, 2026. He was born on January 21, 1964.
Joesph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother who meant the world to his family. Joe welcomed the Lord into his heart in 2016 and was baptized after and continued his walk everyday. He will be remembered for his love, strength, and the time he shared with those closest to him. His presence brought comfort and joy, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Joseph had a deep passion for beagles that became a lifelong love. From 1995 to 2005, he was actively involved in the Sooner State Beagle Club, where he participated in both show and field trials, and also served as president of the Sooner state Beagle Club and Lawrence county Beagle club. Joe traveled all over the United States showing his beagles and entered them in the World Hunt in Kentucky, where his dogs placed at each hunt. His favorite dog, Gypsy, earned first place in a field trial competing against over 3,200 dogs, and another dog, Tango, placed first in Nebraska in the bench show. Joe truly enjoyed hunting with his beagles and sharing that passion with others. His love for the breed led him to start 2 ARHA Clubs leaving a lasting impact on the beagle community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lesa Horney; his sons, Andy Horney and Ethan Horney wife, Jamie; his granddaughter, Lorelei Horney; and his grandsons, Hagen and Hank Horney. He is also survived by his brother, Scott Horney wife Samantha Horney; his sister, Tracy Hutson; his father and stepmother, Bob and Jan Horney; Aunt Vicki Ryals and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Ashby, his sister, Terri Harison and step mom Nina Horney.
Funeral services will be held at Mt. Zion Church in Rose, Oklahoma, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with lunch to follow graveside. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate Joseph's life. Public viewing will be Friday, April 17, 2026 at Hart Funeral Home from 4 PM until 8 PM.
Joesph will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his love, legacy, and passion for life will remain forever.
